First, students will learn about the three levels of analysis to help make it simpler for the students to understand how writing commentary requires one to analyze a text. Students will then see an example paragraph where they will identify the different levels that they have just learned and practice pulling out individual sentences and explain why they are the level of analysis. Students will also find their own examples and write a critical analysis of those examples.

Second, this print or digital resource includes thesis statement graphic organizers for both general thesis statements for any paper and literary analysis thesis statements. Students will learn how to write a thesis statement step by step and then use a thesis statement checklist to examine thesis statement examples. Students will no longer struggle with writing a strong thesis statement for any type of essay assignment.

Third, students will learn the elements in an introduction and see examples of a literary analysis essay introduction so students can practice writing introductions before creating their own. Students are also provided an introduction outline and a thesis statement how to guide to ensure that they know what to do when writing literary analysis introductions. Students are also provided with an introduction checklist to help create an introduction rough draft so that students never forget what to include in their introductions.

Fourth, students will learn the elements that go into writing a body paragraph and see an example of a body paragraph. Students are also provided a list of signal phrases to use in their writing as well as practice citing evidence in the proper MLA format. Students will no longer struggle with what to write in a body paragraph or how to set it up because this resource includes both a body paragraph outline and a checklist to ensure students have all the elements they need.

Finally, students will learn how to write a conclusion’ seeing the elements in a conclusion and see examples of conclusion paragraph prompts so students can practice writing conclusions before creating their own. Students are also provided a conclusion outline to ensure that they know what to do when writing literary analysis conclusions. Students are also provided with a conclusion checklist to help create a conclusion rough draft so that students never forget what to include in their conclusions.
